A 19th century fine Japanese Satsuma large plate, decorated with a central cartouche and band of white cranes in flight, circling bands of finely decorated gilt butterflies and scrolls highlighted with red and other coloured enamels. Marks to the reverse with two red ground tablets with gilt calligraphy, diameter 30.6 cm.
