Sam Wells: Original 1948 cartoon by Sam Wells 'Open go - Out of the Box' showing Don Bradman, Grand Final captains Don Cordner (Melbourne) & Dick Reynolds (Essendon), tennis player Adrian Quist and a horse, ready to go now that the election is over, size 51 x 33 cm, backstamped 'Herald 1 Oct 1948'. Very attractive cartoon in superb condition. [Note: The 1948 VFL Grand Final ended in a draw (the first time this had happened), the day after this cartoon. Melbourne defeated Essendon in the replay on Saturday 9th October].
