A machine age tubular aluminium armchair, designed by Warren MacArthur (USA) for Namco, circa 1950 upholstered in original pink leather cloth. Note: Namco commissioned a series of designs from the noted US industrial designer in the late 1940's and early 1950's. It was to be one of MacArthur's last major commissions which, apparently, he personally oversaw in Australia.

  • Circa - A Latin term meaning 'about', often used in the antique trade to give an approximate date for the piece, usually considered to be five years on either side of the circa year. Thus, circa 1900 means the piece was made about 1900, probably between 1895 and 1905. The expression is sometimes abbreviated to c.1900.
