A fine Chinese export silver centrepiece, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, the flute decorated with reticulated panels of bamboo and plum blossom, the side branches of dragon form. On a hardwood base. Marked 'Hc', probably for 'Hung Chong'. 46 cm high, 34 cm wide. Condition: some light tarshing, otherwise no further faults or damage. Approximately 1092 gm total weight including fixed hardwood stand.

The Ming Dynasty is known for its cultural achievements, including the development of porcelain, the invention of movable type printing, and the construction of the Great Wall of China.
