An Jane Brenkley Maori decorated 'Friendship' box, the hinged lid and sides carved deeply with Maori inspired tiki and manaia with cats-eyes inlaid to the eyes and elsewhere as highlights. Remnant colour staining to protruding tongues. A marae landscape poker-worked inside the lid and the epithet 'My Heart's in Maoriland Today, Remembering Loved Ones Far Away, and Though Between Us Rolls the Sea, Kia Ora Is My Wish to Thee', signed and dated 1958. 36 cm x 29 cm x 20 cm.
