A set of Banks' Florilegium limited edition 'Part XX: New Zealand plates 402-423' engravings, Banks' Florilegium is a collection of copperplate engravings of plants that were gathered by Sir Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander from 1768 to 1771 while accompanying James cook on an expedition around the Pacific. The engravings were printed in 1983 on 300 Gsm acid-free paper a la poupee and have window mounts made on the same acid-free paper. Each mount has the name of the artist, the date of the original watercolour drawing, the plate number, the engraver's name, the plant's modern name, the manuscript name, and the place and date of discovery. The casing is made of wood with a green linen covering. The casing and each engraving is numbered 83 of 100. This is a full set of engravings. Published by Alecto historical Editions and the British Museum (natural history). Approx. 78.5 x 61 cm
