A woven Helmut mask, Baba, Abelam people, Papua New Guinea, this is a simple but very strong mask, tightly woven, the details are very fine. It is old, with underlying dark paint & more recent bright red. The inside is dark from smoke & dust over many years, 55 x 45 x 27 cm
