A fine Malagan mask, New Ireland, Papua New Guinea. Provenance: The Andrew Korda & Susan Pearson collection, this Malagan mask was collected by Sir Edward Ford in 1934 during his time working in New Ireland and gifted to the journalist bill Rodie, father of Susan Pearson. Sir Edward Ford was a leading figure in public health in Australia and played a pivotal role in the anti-malaria campaign for Australian forces in the South Pacific during World War II, 20 x 14 cm
