Edward Schafer rare and early goldminer's ring, 15ct yellow gold with gold nugget specimen flanked by a pick and shovel, circa 1850s, stamped with a gothic 'E.S.' with kangaroo and emu and early Schafer mark possibly pre-dating his Melbourne business and placing him in the Ballarat goldfields where reference has been made to a jeweller 'Edwards' of Ballarat. Note the lack of 'Melbourne' stamp. 9.5 grams
