1957 Peter Thomson's Golf Clubs & Bag, with signed note from Peter Thomson '...the Dunlop Maxfli clubs were used by me for a brief period in the late 1950's. They were the best one could acquire at the time!'. The 1 wood & 2 wood with Union Jack flag & 'British Open Champion 1954, 1955, 1956', so these clubs probably date from c.1957. The clubs comprise 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, wedge & sand iron; woods 1, 1½ & 2; the 'Peter Thomson/ Dunlop' bag with some wear and two zips replaced. Peter Thomson went on to win the British Open Championship five times, in 1954 1955 1956 1958 & 1965. As well as a great player he was an outstanding contributor to the game, serving as president of the Australian Pga for 32 years, designing and building courses in Australia and around the world, and writing for newspapers and magazines for more than 60 years.
