1930 broadside: 'Sensational Sammy Harris: Akron's Lightweight Contender. 31 x 22 cm, framed & glazed (63 x 53 cm). The poster was created by boxing manager Harry 'Ping' Auber, and reads 'You pick the boy. Harris Will Fight Him...Harris is only 19 years of age and has a record to be proud of. 65 Fights. Won 62. Won 20 by K.O. Lost Only 3. This Brownskin boy Always repeats as He is Clean Classy Colorful.1 Tragically, in a March 1931 rematch against Mickey Buris, Harris failed to answer the round 10 bell and lost consciousness. He subsequently fell into a coma and died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the fight.
