A Javanese Volcanic stone sculpture of Mahishasura Mardini 14th/15th century, the six armed figure of the Mahishasuramardini/Durga standing on a recumbent water buffalo holding a human figure by the hair., the other five hands holding various attributes, with elaborate jewellery and a dhoti glancing benevolently to one side, 60 cm high, 27 cm wide. Provenance: Purchased from Sotheby's, New York, 21st March 1990
