A carved wood cup Qing Dynasty, 19th century, possibly aloeswood, with steeply flared sides carved on the exterior with legendary figures including the Eight Immortals and Liu Hai with his toad, beside two pine trees, the trunks forMing the openwork handle, with branches extending in relief over the rocky cliffs to either side and onto the interior, fitted wood stand. -2. 13 cm high.

During the Ming Dynasty, China experienced a period of relative stability and prosperity. The government was centralized and bureaucratic, with the emperor at the top of the hierarchy. The Ming Dynasty is known for its cultural achievements, including the development of porcelain, the invention of movable type printing, and the construction of the Great Wall of China.
