2004 Athens Olympics: Official Torch, magnesium and olive wood, 66 cm tall, inspired by the olive tree's leaf, used in torch relay. Australian athletes have competed in every Summer Olympic Games of the modern era. The Australian Olympic Committee sent a total of 470 athletes (268 men and 202 women) to the Games to compete in 29 sports. Australia ranked 4th in the medal tally, achieving 17 Gold, 16 Silver & 17 bronze.
