A large platter by Peter Travis (1929-2016), signed '71 of circular form with applied raised geometric designs, 45.5 cm diameter other notes: Peter Travis (1929-2016) was born in Manly, NSW. He studied sculpture and design at East Sydney Technical College, completing his studies in 1964 shortly after setting up his Studio in Glebe. Peter distinguished himself as a designer, artist and craftsperson, excelling in a wide variety of fields ranging from fashion and textiles to ceramics and kites. Peter exhibited at the international Academy of Ceramics. Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 1972 and was elected a titular member of the academy. In 2008, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his outstanding contribution to the visual arts, crafts, Art education and design.
