A Rene Lalique 'Amour Assis' box, designed 1919, the circular body moulded to the cover with a handle in the form of a seated cherub, in frosted and clear glass with a sepia patina, moulded 'R.     As patina is very difficult to replicate, it is one of the most important guides to determining the age of furniture.
