A Neumann U89i condenser microphone, German made, serial number 1685, multi-pattern large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone, five pickup patterns (figure eight, hypercardioid, cardioid, wide cardioid and omni) selectable via rotary collar switch, switch providing a 6dB pad, cradle and protective case, acquired on 30 June 1995, INXS were part owners in Rhinoceros Studios, in Sydney. We recorded all or parts of six of our albums there. This was one the vocal and 'sax microphones used.' Kirk Pengilly.
