First Fleet & Botany Bay: the London Chronicle. The first printed accounts of the Expedition to and the Settlement at Sydney Cove, in issues of the London Chronicle newspaper issued in early 1789, February 26-28, 1879: Regarding the safe arrival of Commodore Phillips with his ships and convicts at Botany Bay, '...very few men died on the passage....' The short article also notes that it was intended that the supply brig would be returned home 'last November with advices for Government, so that she is expected in a month or six weeks.
