A Chinese carved 'gourd' flat snuff bottle, 6.8 cm high. Provenance: Singapore private collection. Note: The sides of the bottle are flat with polished edges. The artist has shown superlative skill in hollowing out the bottle rendered very difficult by the narrow passage between the two bulbs. The gourd-shaped piece would have been a refined birthday present as it symbolised longevity. . Compare a similar bottle, see The Baur Collection Geneva, Chinese Snuff Bottles, 2007, p. 256
