Pair of Japanese Imperial Satsuma Thousand Flower vases, reign marks to base, 21 cm high. Provenance: the Japanese government presented these vases to General McArthur who gave them to the Australian Colonel Mullely, who was his Chief of Staff, in appreciation. When Colonel Mullely died, his effects were auctioned at his Clifton Garden home in 1975.
