David Trubridge is a New Zealand-based furniture designer known for his iconic lighting and furniture made from sustainable materials. Trubridge was born in England in 1957 and studied naval architecture at Newcastle University. After graduating, he worked as a forester for several years before teaching himself to make furniture. In 1984, Trubridge and his family moved to New Zealand, where he set up a workshop in Havelock North.
