Steiff is a German company that is widely recognized for its production of high-quality teddy bears and soft toys. In 1902, Margarete's nephew, Richard Steiff, designed a revolutionary toy—a jointed bear made of mohair plush fabric with movable arms and legs. It was the world's first teddy bear. The bear's design was inspired by a trip Richard made to the Stuttgart Zoo, where he observed bears' movements.
