World War II Memorial Cross, awarded to 'N.Z.42 6759 W/O Freeman R. H.' Raymond Herbert Freeman R.N.Z.A.F of Lower Hutt, served in the South Pacific. He captained the PBY-5 Catalina in a test flight in Fiji where it failed to recover from a deliberate stall. The wreck sank, six crew survived but Freeman and three others were not seen again.
