Tibetan Astrological wheel of life embossed copper Tanka, centrally depicting an upturned tortoise representing the Bodhisattva of knowledge, upon whom are drawn various geomantic diagrams such as the nine magic squares, the symbols of the eight planets and the twelve animals, 30 x 27 cm within silk backed mount. Condition: slight indentation to centre., notes: above, the three protectors of Knowledge 'Rig Sum Gonpo': the three deities are visual symbols summarizing (on the left) the power of all gods with the wrathful Chana Dorje holding a dorje sign of stability and steadfastness, the wisdom (in the middle) Jampelyang with one hand raised holding a sword with which to cut through the fog of ignorance and the Compassion (on the right) Chenrensig who holds a lotus that represents purity rising untouched by the 'mud' of Samsara.
