Tapa mask Nakanai people, New Britain. Provenance: Ex William Rubin collection (1927-2006). From 1968 to 1988, Rubin was a curator and director of the painting and sculpture department at the Museum of modern Art, located in New York city, New York . He played a key role in building the Museum's collection of abstract-expressionism works and organized many exhibitions, including Dada, Surrealism, & Their Heritage (1968) and the ground breaking exhibition Primitivism in 20th century Art: exhibiting Oceanic and African Art alongside 20 century paintings / Todd Barlin collection. 48 x 38 cm
