A matched pair of silver coffee and chocolate pots by Elkington & Co., London 1900 and 1903, of faceted tapered form, the domed-hinged cover with bell finial, both with wood scroll handle and reeded foot, total weight 895 grams, both 18 cm high. Together with a silver ink well by Blanckensee & Sons Ltd, Birmingham 1918, weighted, (3).

    Finials have a variety of shapes and forms. They may be urn-shaped, baluster shaped round or spiral, but usually taper into an upper point. Many real life shapes may also be used as finials, such as pineapples, berries, pinecones, buds, lotus and acorns. Sometimes animals such as a lion are depicted, or fish and dolphins.
