A Japanese Katana sword with scabbard. This sword was taken from a 20,000 ton Jap crude oil tanker that had been deliberately beached following a torpedo and aerial attack. Jack and his team of native guerrilla fighters arrived shortly after to inspect and clean up residual enemy if necessary. This sword plus a food bowl (Lot: 26) were two of Jack's most treasured souvenirs plus a custom made jarrah case total. Length 92 cm

  • Jarrah - A eucalypt, known by its aboriginal name jarrah, it grows only in the south-west of Western Australia. The timber is a dark red-brown in colour with similar grain and colouring to mahogany and was used extensively in house construction as well as for making furniture.
