An embroidered silk three-panel hardwood screen each panel of rectangular shape embroidered on the black silk ground with birds beside flowering plants and trees, one with a pair of cranes beside bamboo and a magnolia tree, another with pairs of peacocks and parrots near a pine tree, prunus and peony, and the third with a pair of pheasants, flowering cherry and peonies, the frame carved and pierced with fruiting gourd vine between panels similarly carved below and surmounted by shaped crestings, either side with a pierced flange supported on a recumbent Buddhist lion 166 cm high by 205 cm wide overall
