Winner of the Champion 1883', oil on board, signed and dated 1884 lower right, framed, overall 52 x 44 cm. (In A.B.'Banjo' Paterson's poem 'A Dream of the Melbourne Cup', published in the 'Bulletin' just prior to the running of the 1886 Melbourne Cup, Commotion was just pipped on the post)
