An Australian Named World War I trio and military medal military medal named to 1360 DVR H. SMITH 41st/BTY AUST. F.A. World War I 1915 trio named to 1360 DVR H. Smith 15th BN A.I.F. A well documented group with original paper work, to Pte Herbert Smith who was a veteran of the Gallipoli Peninsula serving as an infantry soldier with the 15th Bn 1st AIF. He later went on to serve on the Western front, Australian field artillery, and was awarded the military medal for Bravery. This was for the 6th and 7th Oct 1917 East of Ypres 'He personally at great labour and with total disregard of danger and through a heavy barrage, carried his ammunition up to the guns'. This lot comes with much original paper work and ephemera including: His ANZAC plaque and its miniature badge in its box of issue (named to H. Smith), with original newspaper clipping of his obituary and a photograph of him in mid-1970's, talking to a couple of of recently returned Vietnam soldiers, about their and his, experiences. His soldier pay book. The following original paper work, discharge certificate / Notification, of the MM to his mother and army form W.3121, detailing the citation for the MM and signed by various levels of command, recommending him for the awards.
