Rare Maori Portraits by Elizabeth Pulman, c1870s

The Glew collection of rare carte de visite/ albumen prints by Elizabeth Pulman, Auckland, c1870's. Print sizes generally: 90 x 5.5 cm. Three images have been cropped to an oval by the photographer. Mild fading and wear to prints. This exceptional collection features twenty-two Maori portraits, including several tribal leaders. Among those identified are: Hati Wira Takahi, Tamati wake Nene, Tawhiao, Ratene Hihitawa, Wiremu Tamihana, Parore Te Awha, Rewi Manga Maniapoto and Paora Tuhaere.
