A rare hand-coloured lithograph 'Stranger's House (Houraki Pah)'. By Richard Aldworth Oliver, 1811-1889, 'A Series of Lithographic Drawings From Sketches in New Zealand '. London, Dickinson & Co. [1852]. This lithograph depicts a Maori whare with porch and doorway and a carved figure at the front end of the ridgepole. A man and a woman stand in the foreground with other figures engaged in tasks outside the whare and further towards the water. All are dressed in a mixture of traditional Maori cloaks and European clothing. 27 cm x 39.6 cm
