An excellent late 18th century Maori fighting staff (taiaha), with beautifully stone-carved tongue, paua shell eyes (one eye broken in half). Nice heavy weight. Has the remains of some tie knots that would have contained the rare Maori dog fur and minute traces of dog fur. Missing bird feathers. Length 161 cm
