The original bronze bell from the S.S. 'Torgauten', named and dated '1901'. Built by the Moss Iron Foundry & Mechanical Works in 1901, Norway, acquired by the West Coast Steamship Co. in 1904 then to the Maoriland Steamship Co., then in 1915 acquired by the Union S.S. Co., she sank off Cape Maria van Diemen in 1926. Good original condition, no clanger. Height 22 cm

    It is very fluid in a molten state, and its hardness, strength when set, and non-corrosive properties makes it most suitable for casting sculpture.
