day - beds
Day bed. A chaise or sofa used for resting during the day. Usually scrolled at one end, its back does not extend along the whole length of the piece. Similar to a colonial day bed. Edwardian day beds are still fairly plentiful. They are distinguished by shallow machine-made designs on the scroll and usually a railed back supported by a gallery of small spindles. They generally have a wire mattress base.
