wing back - chairs, singles/pairs
Wingback chair. A chair, usually upholstered, with extended wings on either side of the head rest, essentially to keep draughts away from the occupant. Introduced in the early 18th century they have remained popular ever since. Their other advantage is that they help to hide the sitter from view which is convenient for the reader who does not wish to be interrupted.
